Meet our Elders

Nice Guys--every one of them.

And very dedicated to serving Jesus. Once a month, they meet to cast vision and determine direction for Neighborhood Church. They pray through all decisions and never make a move forward unless they all agree.

They are a solid group of men whose leadership we trust.

Bill Giovannetti, lead pastor. Bill moved from Chicago to become the lead pastor of Neighborhood Church in September 2002.  He and his wife Margi stay busy raising two young children. Bill is Italian, loves lou malnati's pizza, and is an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Despite these facts, we are still glad to have him as our lead pastor.

Erich Roehl, executive pastor. Erich joined the pastoral staff in July 2004 after 27 years with IBM as a corporate execute.  Married to Ruth in 1977, they have three daughters: Jessica, married to Bryan Loucks; Valerie, married to Page Hiner, and Pam, a freshman at UCLA.  They also have three adorable grandchildren.  Erich likes to fish, fly, and thoroughly enjoys  harassing the people he loves.

Andy Duff. Andy has lived in and around Redding since 1974. He is a Certified Financial Planner  at Duff Financial & Insurance Services. Andy also serves on the Good News Rescue Mission Board and sings tenor on our worship team. His greatest joy in life is his family: wife Marci, who he married in 1990 and three boys, ages 14,13, & 8. Andy enjoys camping with his family, is a physical fitness enthusiast, and spend years rock climbing and mountaineering. His favorite non-biblical quote is "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space."

Gordon Flinn. Gordon is the president of marketing and development at Simpson University.  He and his wife of 29 years, Kris, have two college-grad kids and one college sophomore. The Flinns have been at Neighborhood for 19 years.   Gordon's accomplishments include 35 years of playing golf--without a hole-in-one, riding the Good Year Blimp at the World's Fair in 1974 as a young teen, and  learning to eat candy by sorting it first  before consuming it by smallest population first (i.e. M&Ms, Skittles, etc.).

Dan Morrow.  Dan is CEO of Op-test, an automated test equipment manufacturing business established in 2000, and an adjunct faculty member at Simpson University.  He's been married to Ann Marie for 27 years (who supervised him in college!) and they have two 20-something daughters, Ericka and Meredith.  Dan's a smart guy, but he's also full of adventure, going all the way back to high school when he took a solo dune-buggy ride across the country.  He's eaten chicken feet in China, pig's ear in Taiwan and mystery meat in Africa!

Charlie Kennedy. After 25 years of teaching high school students English in the Anderson High School District, Charlie has become adept at sniffing out recalcitrant adverbs, misaligned semi-colons, strangling modifers, and non-participating participles. He and his wife, Karen, just celebrated 34 years of marriage and have two  have married children. Charlie has been an elder since 1997.  If you should see him wandering around with a conch shell to his ear, it's because he loves the ocean and suffers an unfortunate, though mostly non-fatal side effect of habitual conch shell usage: his ears wrinkle when he smiles.

Jerry Stayton. Jerry and his bride of 54 years, Peggy, have two grown children and six grandchildren.  They served as missionary associates in Africa for two years before coming to work at Simpson for five where Jerry oversaw business and operations.  Jerry also worked at the Central Pacific District office of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

Brad Williams. Brad has been an executive vice president at Simpson University for 14 years. A Pennsylvania transplant, he earned an engineering degree from Penn State. Brad has been married to Mary Kay for 29 years and has three grown sons: Matt, Mike, & Jon. He is a diehard Baltimore Orioles fan, perhaps the only one in California!  His own prestigious baseball career includes four year of coaching t-ball when his boys were small.

Dave Meurer. Dave enjoys teaching the "What's Next?" class for new followers of Jesus.  He and his wife Dale have been married for 28 years and have two sons. Dave is a humor writer who has authored six books and regularly writes for major Christian magazines.  He is also a congressional aide, which means he helps run the federal government.  He thinks you should find this alarming.  Dave once worked on an oil rig and had to carry a tube or nitroglycerin up a flight of stairs that were covered in slick mud. It was about that time that he decided he would prefer a desk job.

Steve Tucker.  Steve is a corporate pilot after flying helicopters in the army, then EMS helicopters for 21 years. He became a "Jesus Freak" in 1976 and has been married to Debi since 1981. They have three grown children: Jennifer, 24; Ryan, 23; & Jordan, 19. Steve enjoys Sci-Fi of all types (Books, Movies, TV), has a 68 Barracuda that he plans on restoring some day and the highlight of his year?   Whenever the Packers beat the Bears!
